Toryn Canders (Female Felsian)
Having lost her entire family to a brutal Purist attack when she was only 5 years old, Toryn lived on the streets until finding a home with Kelan and his gang in Alpha City. She was arrested and sentenced to military duty when she was 15 after attacking two policemen aligned with the Purist movement. Three years later she was charged with the murder of a fellow serviceman and sentenced to death. Being the only felsian to ever serve in the military, Qutar-Rin then liberated her to relocate the Hellfyre. She was romantically involved with Junil Marne.
Jolis-Nel (Male Fel)
A jolly and sometimes mischievous Fel engineer who was responsible for designing Angelfyre’s final form and mechanical systems. Jolis has an unusual accent for a Fel, owing to his upbringing by human foster parents originally from Earth. His mother was Scottish and his father Welsh. In case you’re thinking Scottish engineer from that other popular space opera series, rather visualize something closer to a certain animated green ogre, just a little slimmer.
Toris-Sun (Male Fel)
A well-renowned yet reserved Fel physicist and engineer who was responsible for designing Angelfyre’s propulsion systems. He also pioneered her slipspace capabilities and is a leading slipspace translation and hypercubic field expert. He is the guy that builds the best engines in the constellation.
(Dr) Joseph Marcus (Male Terran)
Dr Marcus is an accomplished scientist holding PhD’s in Psychology, Physics, and Neuroscience. He was a student of Prof. Calor Sephan and a fellow pioneer of the field of neurophysics. Dr Marcus conducted his internships in the military and became involved in several contracts, eventually moving into next generation pilot integration development using neural interface devices. This, together with his expertise in SI technology, ultimately led him to the Starfyre Programme and the development of Angelfyre and Hellfyre.
(Captain) Cynthia Marcus (Female Terran)
Cynthia Marcus is the wife of Dr Joseph Marcus, the two meeting during his internship while she was undergoing therapy for PTSD. After marrying Dr Marcus, Cynthia moved from active service as a fighter pilot into strategic asset development and testing, joining Joseph in the development of next generation piloting technology using neural interfaces and full body integration. Ultimately, she joined the Starfyre Programme as lead of capabilities development.
Angela Marcus (Female Terran)
Long blonde hair and brown eyes, Angela Marcus was the daughter of Joseph and Cynthia Marcus who died at age 12 from DEMRES. Dr Marcus named the Angelfyre in honor of her memory and designed the Angelfyre prototype SI avatar, known to Casey as Angel, in her image. This almost cost him his marriage, as the sight of the SI was too painful for Cynthia to bear. Her heart eventually changes after seeing the SI crying after the botched slipspace test that killed its pilots.
(Professor) Calor Sephan (Male Terran)
Original pioneer of the field of neurophysics, Prof Sephan was the creator of SI technology and founder of the Opstarianus University Center for Neurosciences. He was Dr Marcus’s PhD promoter.
Kelan Turma (Male Felsian)
Kelan is the informal leader of the street felsian gang at Alpha City. Having lost his mother to a Purist attack when he was 6 years old, he and his sister were sent to separate orphanages. He later escaped and helped liberate his sister before finding their way to Alpha City. Kelan is determined and focused, although often skeptical and dismissive. He adopts a constant pessimistic outlook on life given the circumstances he grew up in and can be very stubborn in his ways. Despite this, he is protective over those under his watch and will not hesitate to throw himself in harm’s way to protect his felsian family.
Meras Turma (Female Felsian)
The sister of Kelan Turma, Meras was placed in a separate orphanage to Kelan when her mother was killed. Kelan later liberated her and they found their way to Alpha City. She was very close to her father, Charles Turma, prior to his departure for a high paying salary in Stelerean Prime not long before her mother was murdered.
Junil Marne (Female Felsian)
Junil lost her sister and family to a Purist attack when she was 8 years old. She was found by Michelle Stansworth and brought to Alpha City.
Jenas Ansley (Male Felsian)
A ginger felsian with high intellect for anything technical. He is the mad inventor of the street felsian group, and geeks out over any form of high-tech gadgetry. He was an only child that lost his parents to a Purist attack.
Fenar Tolner (Male Felsian)
Fenar is a mute, never uttering a single word. Apart from Toryn, he is the fighter in the group, although he is often reserved and docile. Because he never speaks to anyone, his origin is a complete mystery.
Michelle Stansworth (Female Terran)
Michelle lost her husband and felsian son when their hopper was bombed during a Purist attack. After this, she turned to charity work helping other families and felsians, ultimately ending up in Alpha City.
(Colonel) Andrew Stanton (Male Terran)
Head of Quintentiana Military Penitentiary, serving under the Command General of the Alerean System.
Dennis Jonsten (Male Terran)
Head of data operations at the Quintentiana Strategic Defense Data Center, reporting to the Command General of the Alerean System.
Mike Felders (Male Terran)
The data core guy, heading up data core curation at the Quintentiana Strategic Defense Data Center and reporting to Dennis Jonsten.
(Sergeant) Andrew Thomas (Male Terran)
A ground defense military Sergeant serving under the Command General of the Alerean System, Andrew Thomas is a hard-boiled frontline officer in the Alerean System Armed Forces. He has seen his fair share of conflict and has no reservations charging into a battle guns blazing. He has a wife and daughter in Quintentiana, where his unit is based.
Errata note: The original publication of Book 2 had the Sergeant issuing an order to a Lieutenant, a typo that had entered the story after the rankings of the various officers were changed to better reflect the circumstances of the Alerean Incursion. This was corrected in the later revisions.
Emily Wellan (Female Terran)
Dr Marcus’s protégé, a brilliant doctoral student in the field of neurophysics and one of the very first postgraduate neurophysics candidates at Opsterianus University. She has a unique and highly charged personality with an uncanny ability to ultra-focus on problems like it’s nobody’s business.

Naval Orbital Defense Squadron Captain serving under the Command Admiral of the Alerean System.

Head of armed force operations in the Alerean system, reporting directly to the High General.
(Command Admiral) James Kenner (Male Terran)
Head of naval fleet operations in the Alerean system, reporting directly to the High Admiral.
(Lieutenant) Steven Jackson (Male Terran)
Head of base security for the Alerean-5 Lunar Naval Base, reporting to the Command Admiral of the Alerean System.
Fun easter-egg: The revised print version refers to Jackson as Lieutenant Sergeant, a tongue-in-cheek poke at the typo with Sergeant Thomas.
Five of the Series Seven (AI)
The Series Seven AI were the product of the Tangent Corporation’s Metasocial Intelligence Construct project, the result of 187 trillion iterations of curated conditioning over 947 thousand generations of adaptive meta-aware artificial neural network models. The entirety of the process took 32 years to complete, culminating in Five’s unique neural makeup after passing the final Turing test within the Tournament Fabric, where he competed against 201 other metasocially conditioned intelligences. He is regarded as the most ‘human’ AI ever created.
Pico (Repair Drone)
A hexapedal repair drone forming part of the autonomous repair system on Angelfyre. Pico forms a close relationship with Casey during Book 2, who Casey names after a cat she once owned.

Leader of Fifty-Third Stelerean Offensive Squadron. A Naval Captain serving under the High Admiral.
