One of the first settled systems within the Stelerean Constellation, the Alerean System became an important economic asset due to its rich mineral and energy resources. The system boasted three habitable planets with no extant sentient civilizations, offering a perfect opportunity for the economic expansion of the Constellation.
The Alerean System is a single star system, the primary star designated Alern Alpha. The system has 9-planets with 7 rocky, of which 3 are habitable, 2 gas giants, and an extensive mineral-rich asteroid belt.
Alerean-4 is a warm planet with extensive deserts around the equator. Although inhabitable, its higher temperatures, lack of water and poor mineral deposits has led to little settlement and development.
Alerean-5 is the prime planet of the system, and the city of Quintentiana the system capital and home to the United Systems Armed Forces military base. The orbiting moon houses the United Systems Naval Forces base for the system.
Alerean-6 is a cooler planet and the smallest of the three inhabitable worlds. No extensive oceans exist on its surface, instead a collection of very extensive interconnected water bodies extending into large ice fields near the pole. The cities are found near the equator where temperatures are more comfortable. Tansrentis and Sultoonen are the two major cities on Alerean-6, with Tansrentis the capital of the planet. Fuldarnus is the smaller, a mostly industrialized town surrounded by the asteroid minerals complexes and farmland.
Sandwitched between the orbits of Alerean-6 and Alerean-7 is the Alern Belt, a vast and supremely dense orbiting loop of asteroids and rocky bodies that are littered with mines. Mineral extraction operations are usually only active for a few months in a standard Alerean-6 year depending on the orbit of the planet, which is where raw materials are processed in its numerous asteroid minerals processing complexes.
Alerean-8 is a small and docile subclass of gas giant with a large cluster of unmanned Metallic Hydrogen extraction rigs in its upper cloud decks.
Alerean-9 is a Class-I gas giant and a very large region of space around it is a classified UniSys military proving ground.
